Eating more with everything reopening?! | MaeveMadden

Eating more with everything reopening?!

  • Hey queens,

So I know Ireland has only started opening up the past week or so but I've been venturing out of the house on a few occasions and I'm finding it so hard to stay on track with my food while I'm out! Just wondering if anyone else has the same issue or tips on how to manage it?

I was doing so well with my food and keeping on track really until my college exams which threw any sort of plan out the window with stress eating and comfort food lol. Then I was down seeing my boyfriend recently and stayed in his house and I don't think I ate one piece of fruit or veg for the whole weekendand I feel like it's just put me off for the week! Then I was off to the shops with a friend and had multiple coffees and takeaway meals so has just completely thrown my diet this week. I guess I'm just so used to being at home and prepping what I'm eating and I think its been a bit of a shock to the system being back out and definitely have overindulged. Any other queens feeling the same with everything reopening? It might be just that we've formed a routine the past year a home and now that things are opening it might be hard to settle for the first few weeks?

  • @Niamh Byrne Oh Niamh Id love to be able to help and give some advice but food and calorie tracking woudnt be a strong point for me (Like, I used my protein shaker to whip cream yesterday for gods sake😌)

Only bit of advice I could give would be not to beat yourself up over it. With everything opening up again and going out meeting people its perfectly normal to lose track of your diet a little bit and its really good for your mental health to be going out socialising and having fun again, even if that means not eating the healthiest food. With the good habits you have formed over the year it wont be long till you get back on track and I reckon in a few weeks again you will be back to your normal routine.

    X

  • I've done the same @Niamh Byrne I think with lockdown and everything that's gone on for the last year it's like we have been restricted to what was in our cupboards for so long. Now we can go crazy haha. Don't be so hard on yourself, everything is adjusting at the minute and will settle. Just enjoy yourself, you deserve it 😘

  • I had such issues with this for going out to restaurants and a friend suggested just deciding what I have before I go - that way youre not under pressure deciding and can go for a salad, or maybe be prepared to ask for alterations to a dish if you want them.

Also I find Huel great for if Im out and about, super nutrient dense (low cal) and handy to throw in a handbag.

I think we all need to give ourselves a break though and enjoy reopening! Our routines will adjust in time ☺️
