Feeling frustrated with my progress | MaeveMadden

Feeling frustrated with my progress

  • Hey ladies,

Hope you all are having a lovely weekend. Loving the workouts the past few weeks. 😊👍I'm looking for some advise or tips please. Week 1 and week 5, I completed 8 workouts and week 2, 3, 4 and 6 I did 9 workouts. I'm loving the workouts but unfortunately I haven't lost a single pound and find it really frustrating when I'm pushing myself to do the exercise. I'm weighing and watching every piece of food I eat being really strict- daily calories 1,500.

Any help or motivation would be great because I'm finding it hard now when results just aren't showing. 😭😭

  • @Elaine Bailey how do u restrict yourself to 1,500 calories?

Have you taken measurements of your body or are u just using the scales? What about photos? Have u taken any of you in the first week to compare to now?

Do u feel stronger? Are u sleeping better? Do u feel energized? Are u attempting the more advanced moves? This is also progress. All positive progress too. 👑💙😊

  • Hey Elaine, I stepped on the scales for the first time today since christmas and apparently I've gained weight, but I take progress pictures and I can see in those my belly is getting smaller, my bum tighter and the fit of my clothes is so much better! So for me the scales are going back on the back burner.

I would say try and get back to really enjoying the workouts, its such a perk of QDQ that we can laugh and smile in the workouts and take a little pressure off ourselves. You're doing amazing doing 8-9 workouts a week, dont let the scales get you down on galentines 💜

  • @Elaine Bailey hiya Queen u r smashing it with ur workouts. Well done u. From reading ur post I feel that the fact ur lack of weight loss is stressing. Stress is the key word here. It does untold things to us & believe it or not our bodies too. My only advice Elaine is the stop putting urself under so much pressure try to enjoy your journey & I promise u will see the changes. Put away the weighing scales for a wk or too & just see how things go. Watching everything u eat becomes a chore & that can hinder any enjoyment of food & exercise for u. Plenty of water, sleep & fun is what I prescribe for u Queen. 👑👑👑❤️❤️❤️

  • @Elaine Bailey Queen im so sorry to hear this! You are doing so well with the workouts but I find that the weighing scales is not a good idea. I don't go near mine! You are gaining a lot of muscle so as the other girls said, pics and measurements are a good idea! Please don't be too strict on yourself,  once you start to let go and enjoy it all and just do it for you, its amazing what you will find!!!! Xx

  • @Elaine Bailey Queen please try not to be too frustrated, there is so much more to our bodies than just weight loss! If your goal is solely weight loss maybe check out Maeve's blog post suggesting what workouts we should be doing for our desired outcome. To be honest I was the same as you not so long ago, feeling stuck and getting upset by the scales but I've just chucked it under the bed and left it there at this stage because it really brings me down even on the days I feel fantastic. There are so many contributing factors to weight fluctuation, especially as women! Both hormones and stress can have an impact on our weight along with many other things.

Try not to restrict yourself too much queen, I suppose it's about trying to build a sustainable lifestyle and sometimes with building a sustainable balanced lifestyle it takes more time to see results. Also we're building muscle with team queen too. Take a step back from the scales and show yourself some love, I know it's hard when you're feeling down but think about all the amazing thing your body does for you that we take for granted most of the time! Do you feel stronger? Do you feel happier after working out? Do you feel fitter? Try and gague your progress from milestones like these queens and the mirror will reflect it in time! Sometimes I like to think of it that it works from the inside to the outside. We all have different body types and we all carry our weight differently and it's so easy to compare ourselves to others but YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL. YOU ARE STRONG. YOU ARE A QUEEN. 👑❤️

Make sure your sleep and water are good and try not to stress yourself out or put too much pressure on yourself queen, by building a lifestyle the results will come. I feel like it's okay to be aware of calories but personally I found previously it became an obsessive thing for me which definitely wasn't good for me. Some days will be better than others but you'll get there queen. It's understandable to feel frustrated but you will get there and we're with you every step of the way.

Go easy on yourself queen, show yourself some love! ❤️ The weighhing scales does not define you or your progress x

  • @Elaine Bailey Hey Elaine - stress and feeling like your expectations aren't being met will have a toll on you/your scale weight etc xx

You are clearly doing the workouts and if you're in a calorie deficit you will lose body fat - the scales flutuate daily from hormones/ovulation/ too much water/not enough water/ what time you ate/how much exercise you did etc

Definitely make sure you are counting the cals/recording the cals accurately and weighing/measuring portions etc if you are 3500 cals in deficit over a week then that will equate to 1lb of body fat so definitely over time the sclaes will fluctuate up and down but the graph of body fat loss will come down gradually - consistent/accurate tracking and exercise will give you the rewards

Defo dont put all your stock on the scales - look at pics/measurements too

Personally i weigh every morning after the loo and before anything else. I record my weight on myfitnesspal and get on with my day - its data nothing more. This morning the scales tell me im up almost 2lbs - i expect this fluctuation due to the food at my daughters bday party yesterday and going over daily cals but my clothes/pics etc tell me Im not up body fat. scale weight is a pain in the h*le so dont let it govern your day. I feel fantastic and the scales doesnt effect me anymore.

You are doing great Elaine - consistency is key - you will see the rewards xx Queen all the way girl xx

  • @Elaine Bailey so sorry you are feeling this way queen! We have ALL been there!

Just try and remember this journey is going to take time and not to be so hard on yourself. I went into doing the workouts solely for losing weight, but let me tell you it has become so much more. For me it is about being healthier, stronger, and loving myself for me, no matter my weight.

You WILL see results!! Just keep killing it like you are and try not to be so hard on yourself. I did calorie counting for awhile too and if I ever went over I felt so down on myself. But it is not worth it! For me, I eat when I am hungry and try to remember to eat foods that will FUEL my body. But don't forget to TREAT YOURSELF once and awhile because you deserve it.

If you restrict yourself too much, it will get too hard... and it's no FUN! There should be joy in getting healthier and stronger, so please don't be too hard on yourself girl. You got this!! 💪🏼 👑

  • I just read over these comments here. Some days I also need to be reminded to relax and enjoy the journey. Thanks so much to everyone for posting these lovely comments. They may not be intended for me but they are sending my mind back in the right direction.
