IBS-I feel ya Maeve😭 | MaeveMadden

IBS-I feel ya Maeve😭

  • Omg I can totally relate to Maeve today!! My IBS bloat is soooo bad!!

    Working out definitely helps though!

Anyone else suffer with IBS? I'm only recently diagnosed so any tips and teicks would be so helpful!!

  • @Sharon McNamara Welcome to the IBS club! Probably the least fun club you could join. I've been diagnosed for over 10 years now.

Oocha that looks like a painful bloat! Good on you for motivating yourself to workout and take a photo. I think workouts like HIIT/combat/cardio tend to be good for releasing some of the bloat (good thing we're not working out in gyms right now).

    My go tos are:

    • Hot water bottle or heat pads if you're out and about
    • Drink plenty of fluids
    • Ginger or peppermint tea
    • Miso soup
    • Knowing your safe foods
    • Knowing your triggers to avoid when you have a flare up (avoid fizzy drinks, alcohol, sugar and overly processed foods) Do something that makes you feel good and distract yourself in the meantime
    • Joggies! Or any comfortable clothing. Anything tight can make you more bloated and is just painful
    • Walking & streching
    • Sleep
    • Being kind to yourself - stress is one of the biggest causes and being stressed because you feel so rotten is only going to make it worse, so just accept it and know it will calm down in a couple of days)
    • Kiwi fruit (if you're struggling to go)

That's all I can think of for now but hope that helps and that you're feeling better soon! ❤️ xx

  • @Sharon McNamara hi queen, I posted something the same last wk and got great tips!!! The queens had d best advice and it defo helped! Take a wee look back and hopefully something will help you! Its the worst thing ever!!!!

  • @Sharon McNamara oh queen I'm definitely still struggling to "get used to" my IBS even though I don't think I ever will, I tend to get flare ups more often around my period which just adds to it and is soo annoying! Definitely would try maybe colpermin it's fantastic I find! It's for peppermint oil in it and I usually only take mine if I feel flared up now even though I used to take it all the time. My doc also prescribed me with spasmol and I find it very good for bad flare ups!
@Amy Johnston gave some amazing tips there, definitely will be looking at a few of those myself! I hope you start feeling better soon queen x

  • Thank you so much! I'm going to search for caramels post and read the comments! And thank you Amy and Niamh for the tips!

I've actually been very stressed this week so that might explain some of it.

    LOVE this community xxx

  • @Sharon McNamara No worries, hope you're able to unwind and feel more like yourself soon.

It is so nice being part of this community :) xxx
