Hey! New member here - well, new-ish. I'm a single mum to a ten month old, and it's been pretty slow going BUT I am really proud of myself for being consistent. I do a workout every single day unless I have a REALLY good reason not to, and have been for almost two months now.
I'm still working on being okay with a postpartum body that feels very broken a lot of the time (nerve damage, the whole bit) so I won't share photos of my full body just yet but I wanted to just make a note of some of my small wins so I don't forget that I am getting somewhere, even if I don't see it in the mirror.
- I actually do the YMCA now, whereas at the start I'd collapse on the floor in a sweaty heap as soon as I heard that music 😂
- I feel like my co-ordination is SO much better. I don't fall out of step/rhythm at all really any more.
- doing the beginner classes has really helped me with my technique
- I can do the intermediate moves now! My biggest goal, as lame as it sounds, is to be able to do the workouts burpees and all and keep up. But going from beginner to intermediate feels pretty cool.
- I can do the side planks and actually stay up the whole time. I know that probably doesn't sound like much, but the first time I tried to do a side plank I barely stayed up for a second.
Anyway - I'm really enjoying the classes so yeah, thought I would pop my forum cherry and yeah, make sure I actually celebrate my own little wins! And maybe encourage others who are total complete beginners like I was, or getting discouraged because they can't see much progress in the mirror, that being consistent does actually pay off in terms of how you feel/what you're learning/what your body can do.
I won't see you guys on live too often because I live in Australia and #timezones but I love the energy and how everyone shows up for each other, even if I'm reading all the comments later :)
