@Carmel Mulvany there is nothing more painful than a full belly bloat 😭😩
I started taking the optibac probiotics for my gut back in December and it's really helped with my IBS. Between the pain of my ovaries and my IBS I'd be bent over backwards with cramps and bloating.
Im finding it really good. I've had little to no flare ups, maybe once every second week I've a small one but nothing compared to what it was! Takes a few weeks to work but Im finding it great.
@Adri Murphy thanks so much honey, you wouldn't believe but I'm on those for nearly a mth now so they probably haven't started working yet. I hope I get some relief like you!!! This time it just really floored me..... 🤒🤒
@Carmel Mulvany keep up with them. I take two types the flora one and the tummy one 😂 the more the merrier I say hahaha hope they start to work for you soon. Xx
@Adri Murphy thanks so much!! I might start the other ones too.... Great advice xx
@Carmel Mulvany Hi Carmel, how are you feeling now? ... I've had IBS for years and unfortunately there's no quick fix and also what works for one person could be totally wrong for you. For example I see a few people suggesting eating lots of veg and fibre, but in my case if I eat too many veg together that causes a huge flare up! If I'm making a stirfry I try and stick to no more than 2 types of veg and avoid cruciferous ones (cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage - big no-nos as they cause excess gas for me)
But I've found a few things that help. I take Symprove daily, kombucha now and again, Buscopan and Sennacalm peppermint tablets if I've had a big flare up. My hot water bottle is my best friend for relaxing my tummy after my dinner and I have a few cups of peppermint tea a day. And I've found a few foods that are big triggers so I avoid them like the plague! (garlic, onions, cauliflower).
My IBS is mostly stress related and I find that I can have a flare up even if I've not eaten much that day... so I try relaxation techniques like having regular baths, Ester's yoga, getting out for fresh air.
My top tip is to get out of your workout leggings as soon as you can and into looser less restrictive clothes (especially whilst eating) and definitely invest in a hot water bottle if you don't have one already ♥️♥️♥️ (And you should always go to your doc to make sure it's nothing more serious).

@Helen Madden oh Helen thank you so so much, what amazing tips and advice!!!!! This is the 2nd time in a long time that I've gotten really bad! Its over a wk now and tummy not really 100% but the hot water bottle defo helped and the IBS tablets noted here! I'm strongly thinking about starting symprove.... just waiting on my course of prebiotic to end. My friend isn't very well and I think that was the trigger of stress this time along with my own issues! My chest has been feeling very strained so definitely will try do alot more yoga sessions of Esther's! Ill do what ever I can to ease things a bit, its just so hard on our bodies, isn't it!!! I hope you are keeping well queen! Thanks so so much 4 your help xx
