WEIGHTS

  • Hi everybody!

I'm new, wanting to start off strong with the summer challenge and I wanted to buy some weights in preparation but I have absoluetly no idea what to start with! Any suggestions re what weights to go for (3kg, 4kg etc)? I don't want them to be too light!

Looking forward to getting stuck in with you all😍

  • Hi Helena!

Obviously everybody is different and it would depend on your experience but I think 3kg/4kg is more than enough! At this stage it's almost about what you can get your hands on first - weights are hard to come by these days lol!

A lot of the classes that use the weights are usually high rep so the lighter weights are more efficient... You might achieve 5 reps and bad form with a heavier weight but you might get 15 perfect reps with good muscle activation using a slightly lighter one!

I'm lucky I've a few different sets so I've used anything from 2kg to 8kg and I guarantee I've felt the burn every single time!!! Lol it is personal preference and what you're confident with.

Good luck with the challenge - I reckon you're going to smash it!!! 🙌🏻🔥💕

  • Hi Beth

This is great thanks so much for the advice! Yes just noticed the lack of availability so you're definitely right about getting whatever is in stock lol

    Thanks again💓

  • Hey 👋 I started off with 2kg and then got 3kgs and 5kgs ... I've been doing the classes for a year now and wouldn't go above a 5kg for the QDQ classes. I use a mix of all three weights during each class depending on what we're doing. I'm pretty sure Maeve only uses 2,3 & 5s as well. They may sound light, but they are 🔥🔥🔥

  • I just got 4's today and Oh my god Im going to have to ease myself into it!! Have 1.5 from pilates and tbh to start if you can get 1.5-2 that would at least get you started!

  • They have a lot of weights in stock on the networldsports website. Not sure what delivery etc is like but could be worth having a look!

  • Thanks for the advice everybody! Managed to find a wee set that goes from 1-3kg so starting off with that🥰
