Wrist pain! | MaeveMadden

Wrist pain!

  • Hi queens! Suffering recently with wrist pain on one hand - I struggle to hold a plank position and can't get through a Pilates class without stopping! Any advice on strengthening this area? Xx

  • @Georgia Fitzhenry Hi Georgia, I used to have the same pain but it has eased a lot over the past few months. Maeve recommends when holding a plank position to push back your weight into your feet rather than your hands, so it alleviates the pressure from your wrists. I think she may even have a demo on her insta or the Queens Dont Quit page. I have found this really helps. Also make sure to spread your fingers out evenly to help distribute the load and have the inside of your elbows facing each other, try not to have your arms too rigid and straight.

I think learning to engage your core and build up muscle strength will also help with reducing the weight on your wrists. This took me a while but once I started to use my core muscles I definitely noticed the discomfort easing in my hands. It was the same for my neck pain, doing sit ups and that, I would strain my neck but once I started to focus on my core it really made a difference.

It might be no harm to flick Maeve or Sinead a message and see what other suggestions they might have.

Hope this helps, you will get there though dont worry X

  • @Ashley Jordan thanks so much I've just found the video on insta! Good to know that using your core helped you I definitely need to work on that! Thanks for your advice really appreciate it 🥰
