Help- Where to buy dumbells!!

  • Hi everyone!!

    Hope everyone is well?

Looking for a bit of help. Living in Ireland and for the life of me cannot get weights. I have 2kg ones and need to go up now. My lovely boyfriend made me 5kg ones ( he is a welder and metal fabricator) but they are just huge- very bulky but what can I say- I use them because I was thankful he made them for me!!

I think i need the 3kg ones becuase 5kg is just a tad too heavy yet for me, but I am really struggling to find somewhere to buy them- without extortionate custom fees and of course because everyone and their dog is looking for them, the 2nd hand ones are like gold dust and super expensive.

I have tried everywhere and I got scammed by a website over xmas as well so I am sceptical of buying online.

    Wondering if anyone can help!!

    Thanks in advance, Emma xx

  • Hi Emma,

I actually picked some up in Tesco in their gym section.

  • @Aisling O'TOOLE oh brilliant. I must look. Thank you.

  • Im the same I have 1.5kg ones and mostly Im ok with those, but prob could do with 3kg ones for some of the exercises, will have a look in tescos too

  • @Emma O Leary Hey Emma, they're definitely hard to come across at the minute. I've seen a few places have kettlebells. I got my dumbbells in Elverys and they were fairly reasonable in price. I'd check decathon, Elverys. Tesco and I think some home store and more stores might have some too x

  • Hi ladies!

@Emma O Leary  this time last year I was using tins of beans! I managed to get some from Argos but outgrew the lighter ones and now have some from MuscleSquad which is a great website for weights! The red ruined my colour scheme but at least I can push myself now!

    Hope you find something!xx

  • Thanks everyone... I must try tesco now and see. Haven't heard of muscle squad but to be honest even kettlebells will do because my kettlebell is so so heavy.

    Thanks everyone

  • Hey Emma, I bought dumbbells a few weeks ago on McSport Ireland, delivery was super quick too! ☺️🙌🏼

  • @Emma O Leary ah no Queen i hate scammers makes me so so mad. I was in homestore & more yesterday in Cork & they had 4kg kettlebwells along with wrist & ankle weights. Hopefully their store near u might have some.🙏Hopefully that's off some help. 👑👑👑❤️❤️❤️

  • @Emma O Leary Like you I had 2kg and 5 kg and the jump between them was too much. So I bought 1kg wrist bands to use with the 2kg , making them a 3, until ready to go to 5. Now I'm thinking of wrapping them round a 5kg for some of the exercises where only use one weight. Maybe not just yet though!

  • @Audrey Browne oh brill. I'm from Cork but living in limerick so I'll have a look in store now today. Fingers crossed. Thanks audrey

  • @Sinead Toal that's a great idea. I might try that!!!
